Kesar Mawa Burfi (Instant Burfi) (Sweet Treats)
After being carefully crafted, the burfi is adorned with a sprinkle of chopped nuts such as almonds or pistachios, adding a delightful crunch to its sweet, slightly nutty profile. This popular dessert is commonly savored during Indian festivals and special celebrations, owing to its irresistible taste and chewy, melt-in-your-mouth texture.
For those looking to prolong the enjoyment, khoya burfi can be conveniently stored in an airtight container at room temperature for a few days or refrigerated for an extended shelf life.
The below recipe I have shared is the instant recipe The quick version of making Mawa burfi.
Recipe:
Ingredients
Milk Powder 4 cups
Milk 1 cup
Ghee 1/2 cup (1/4 additonal if needed )
Sugar 1 cup (half cup if needed. I added half cup more ) It depends on your sweet tooth level.
Chopped Almonds 2 tbsp
Chopped Pistachios 2 tbsp
Saffron soaked in warm milk (few strands)
Ghee for greasing the plate (you can use parchment paper as well)
Cardamom 1 (optional)
Method :
Heat ghee in a pan. Keep the heat low. Once the ghee is warm add the milk. Mix well. Now add the milk powder. Keep stirring and add slowly to the ghee-milk mixture. Make sure there are no lumps. Keep stirring until it becomes a smooth fine paste.
Cook for about 5 min. Add sugar and saffron milk. Keep stirring. Cook it in a medium heat. After a few mins, the mixture will become thick. Keep on stirring till it leaves the die of the pan. If you feel ghee is less you can add a tbsp. Give a mix. Take a small bit and if the mixture a roll into a ball then it is done.
Grease a square mold with ghee and pour the mixture and level it up. Garnish with chopped pistachios, almonds, and cardamom powder. Pat it finely and let it cool down completely. After an hour, cut it into the desired shape. Enjoy!!!!!
