Orange Marmalade (Sweet Treats)

 Orange Marmalade  (Sweet Treats)

Orange Marmalade anyone? Homemade orange marmalade. Fresh and  fruity taste jam.

Orange marmalade is a type of preserve made from Seville oranges, known for their tart and bitter flavor. The oranges are sliced into thin pieces, including the peel, and then boiled with sugar and water until the mixture thickens and becomes gel-like. The result is a spreadable jam-like substance with a distinct tangy flavor and chunks of orange peel throughout. The bitterness of the orange peel gives the marmalade a unique depth of flavor and a slightly bitter after taste.

Orange marmalade is commonly used as a spread for toast or biscuits, and can also be used as a glaze for meats or added to marinades and salad dressings for a tangy kick. It pairs well with freshly baked artisan rustic bread and gorgonzola blue cheese.

 Recipe:

 Ingredients:

Jam sugar 500g

Oranges roughly chopped into bite size pieces 500g

Zest from 3 oranges

Method:

Chop the oranges into bite-size pieces. Add the zest, the orange pieces, and the jam sugar into a pan and turn the heat on high. Combine the ingredients and mash them lightly to extract the fruit juice. Let the fruit cook and thicken. Stir every few minutes. Once the mixture has thickened, let it cool down completely. Transfer your mixture into a clean jar and keep it in the fridge and enjoy for 2 months.

Serving suggestion:

Toast some artisanal bread in the oven. Spread about 1 tbsp of blue cheese like Gorgonzola or St. Agur, add the orange jam on top, and enjoy.

You can make any fruit jam using this method. The jam sugar and fruit must be in a 1:1 ratio.
