Tiramisu is an exquisite Italian dessert that features layers of light and airy ladyfinger biscuits delicately soaked in freshly brewed, strong black coffee. These coffee-infused biscuits form the base of the dessert and are then generously smothered with a velvety layer of mascarpone cream, creating a decadent contrast of textures and flavors. A generous dusting of rich cocoa powder adorns the top, adding a touch of elegance to this luscious treat.

Following assembly, the tiramisu is carefully placed in the refrigerator to chill for several hours or even overnight, allowing the flavors to harmonize and the filling to set to perfection. Just before serving, a final flourish of cocoa powder or grated chocolate is added as a finishing touch, ensuring every bite is a delightful sensory experience.

Recipe: Yields for 6 persons


Ingredients:


Lady finger biscuits are enough for 3 layers and according to the size of the container

Freshly brewed black coffee approx. 1 cup

Mascarpone 1.5 cups

Cocoa powder 1-2 tsp per layer

Vanilla extract 1/2 tsp

Sugar 1/4 cup

Method:

Take some instant coffee and dissolve it with water and 1 tbsp of sugar and set it aside. Next, take the container where you will be setting your tiramisu and your ladyfinger biscuits. Combine the mascarpone, sugar, and vanilla extract. Make sure that the mascarpone doesn't get watery. If the mascarpone starts melting or gets watery, put it in the fridge and take it out once it has come back to shape.


Take one ladyfinger biscuit, and dip it in the black coffee so that it absorbs the flavor well, but still maintains its structure. Put the biscuit in the container and do the same with the other biscuits until you have one layer of biscuit dipped in coffee. Spread one medium-thick layer of mascarpone and sprinkle chocolate powder on top with a fine sieve. Repeat until the container is full and finish off with a final layer of mascarpone and finely sprinkled chocolate powder. Refrigerate for at least 3 hours or overnight for the best results and enjoy.

Tiramisu is best enjoyed cold with a hot coffee.
